The birds are singing, the afternoon thunderstorms are rolling in, and my herb garden is dying (long before its thyme). It's almost summertime, and we all know what that means... ice cream trucks! But also the end of the school year, and with that, the return of GLDC's Summer Break Room.
The Summer Break Room is a place for teachers transitioning into Learning & Development to connect with one another, learn more about the field, and celebrate each other's successes. While most of the content will be geared toward aspiring instructional designers, there is plenty of overlap with the Learning and Development field at large.
Last summer, we took a look at a few instructional design models/frameworks, common software programs/tools, portfolio tips and platforms, and general job-searching tips. We'll be doing a lot of the same in the upcoming year and hopefully add a couple of panel discussions and takeaway documents to help with the career transition.
If you'd like to learn more or join the group, visit our group in the GLDC Mighty Network. There you can also connect with others or take part in other free offerings like the mentor program, book club, social gatherings, and meetings about learning theory and Storyline projects.
